The Kiriji Heritage Conservation Foundation is pleased to announce former Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Alani Ipoola Akinrinade (Rtd.), as Co-Chairperson of the 140th Anniversary Commemoration of the Historic Kiriji Peace Treaty.
A distinguished military officer, elder statesman and democracy advocate, General Akinrinade’s life reflects courage, patriotism, integrity and an unwavering commitment to justice and responsible leadership.
His participation will provide invaluable guidance as the commemoration advances conversations on peacebuilding, unity, reconciliation and the preservation of Yoruba history.
The anniversary symposium will hold on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, under the theme:
“140 Years of Peace, Unity and Yoruba Heritage.”
The programme is supported by the DAWN Commission, University of Ibadan, Federal University Oye-Ekiti.
